The city of Birmingham stands on the western side of England, in the West Midlands. With a fast train network and many major roads and motorways nearby, Birmingham is within easy reach of many nearby towns and cities, including Coventry, Stratford upon Avon and Warwick, while London can be reached in about 90 minutes from Birmingham by train.

Many of the main attractions in Birmingham lie close to the city centre, including a good selection of restaurants and bars around Broad Street and Brindley Place. Close to the city centre, the Birmingham International Convention Centre (ICC) hosts many of the city's most prominent events and festivals, together with the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) which stands on the outskirts of Birmingham and is a popular venue for concerts.

Standing in the heart of Birmingham, the stylish and eye-catching Bullring shopping centre is known for its modern architecture and offers a huge selection of shops and restaurants. Other notable districts in and around the city of Birmingham include the Edgbaston area, and the nearby village of Bourneville.
